German politicians have called for urgent action on the migrant crisis as the country today halted all trains from Austria due to an overwhelming influx of refugees.
This evening Germany is expected to reinstate controls at its borders with Austria as Europe’s top economy struggles to cope with a record influx of refugees.
It’s not yet clear what temporary checks will be established, but an announcement on the decision is expected to be made this evening, according to German media reports.
The move would mark a dramatic shift away from the current abolishment of passport checks throughout Europe’s Schengen zone.GO READ THE WHOLE THING.
