White House said ready to work with PA - Hamas unity government, as stated in their 2012 Dem platform. (TOI).
A senior official in the White House reportedly said the US would cooperate with a soon-to-be-formed Palestinian unity government, despite Israeli opposition.
A unity government is set to be established within a week by Fatah, which controls the West Bank’s Palestinian areas, and Hamas, the terrorist group that governs Gaza. United States policy is not to work with Hamas unless it recognizes Israel, commits to nonviolence and abides by previous Israeli-Palestinian agreements.
Although it will have Hamas’s support, the new government will be made up of technocrats, rather than representatives of Hamas or Fatah. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has said that the new government will abide by the conditions mandated by the US.
An anonymous senior White House official told the Haaretz newspaper on Tuesday that the US would work with the new government as long as it abides by the conditions, even if it has Hamas’s support. A meeting of 28 European Union foreign ministers last week took a similar position.Hmmm.......ALL THIS WAS PLANNED LONG AGO !Read the full story here.

Democrats Strip Pro-Israel Language From Platform .
As Obama told President Mevedev of Russia he will have more flexibility to do what he wishes in a second term. If the Democratic platform is any indication, his "flexibility" is not going to be a good thing for the only democracy in the Middle East, Israel. Comparing the language of the 2008 Democratic Party Platform and the 2012 Democratic Party Platform a key section was removed.
Below is the section missing from the 2012 document. Pay special attention to the areas in bold:
Each of these items are crucial to Israel and each have been key areas of contention for those who believe this President has not been friendly to the Jewish State.
The United States should continue to isolate Hamas until it renounces terrorism. By removing this sentence, is Obama preparing to give this group legitimacy? He has already done it with Hamas' parent group, the Muslim Brotherhood which took over Egypt. Hamas' partner in the U.S., CAIR continues to be accepted by, and promoted by liberal members of Congress despite an FBI warning.
Note the implications of removing this paragraph:
Below is the section missing from the 2012 document. Pay special attention to the areas in bold:
The United States and its Quartet partners should continue to isolate Hamas until it renounces terrorism, recognizes Israel's right to exist, and abides by past agreements. Sustained American leadership for peace and security will require patient efforts and the personal commitment of the President of the United States. The creation of a Palestinian state through final status negotiations, together with an international compensation mechanism, should resolve the issue of Palestinian refugees by allowing them to settle there, rather than in Israel. All understand that it is unrealistic to expect the outcome of final status negotiations to be a full and complete return to the armistice lines of 1949. Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths.

He has already done it with Hamas' parent group, the Muslim Brotherhood which took over Egypt. Hamas' partner in the U.S., CAIR continues to be accepted by, and promoted by liberal members of Congress despite an FBI warning.
Note the implications of removing this paragraph:
1. The Democratic party no longer advocates isolating Hamas. By implication, they advocate 'negotiations' with that terror group.
2. The Democratic party no longer advocates resettling 'Palestinian refugees' only in the 'Palestinian state,' and by implication advocates resettling them in 'Israel proper' (i.e. the truncated Israel that would presumably still exist after implementation of a 'two-state solution').
3. The Democratic party no longer believes that it is unrealistic that the results of negotiations will be a return to the 1949 armistice lines. By implication (and based on Obama's statements last May) that means that the Democratic party will try to push Israel back to the 1949 lines.
4. The Democratic party no longer believes that Jerusalem 'is and will remain' the capital of Israel. Where else do they propose that we put our capital?
