Photo report from the protest against the Ground Zero mosque in NYC

Watcher, from the great blog Eye On The World, did this photojournalistic report on Sunday's demonstration against the Ground Zero Mosque. I think Watcher's report might be the best I've seen.

So I went to the protest which was organized by Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer. It was attended by several hundred New Yorkers; conspicuously absent though were representatives of the city and state governments.

The first thing I saw was 2 guys holding the crying Liberty mural-like print, across the street from the rebuilding Ground Zero.

There were a lot of printed and even more hand-made no-nonsense posters.

A guy holding a poster explaining who the man behind the push for the mosque at the Ground Zero is.

One of the more or less general views of the protest.

The general mood was also very supportive of Israel, with several people holding both American and Israeli flags, and some wearing IDF t-shirts. When one of the speakers mentioned the recent Turkey-led martyrdom flotilla, there were "Go Israel!" cheers from all directions.

Someone was holding the "Boycott Turkish goods and products" sign.

A couple of people were also holding signs "No mosque in Brooklyn" in response to Muslims pushing to build a big mosque and Islamic center in a nice and quiet neighborhood in Brooklyn.

There was a guy wearing the Obama Joker t-shirt...

And a guy wearing a "Miss Me Yet?" GW t-shirt.

"Stop Welcoming Islamic Terrorists"

Among the notable speakers were:

Robert Spencer.

Nonie Darwish.

Pamella Geller. I did shook hands with her, under the watchful eye of her Marine security detail. :-)

Other than the AP, there was no visible presence of major news outlets, although there were several small ones.

Here's Pamela interviewed by the AP...

... and by Al Jazeera.

When I noticed the Al Jazeera correspondent, a few minutes before I took the above picture, I and a guy next to me took pics of him and his microphone...

for some reason it made him somewhat upset and he asked us "Does it make you feel good?" Nevertheless, he was very polite and professional interviewing Pamela.

This gentleman was one of the most photographed among those who attended the meeting; some people even asked to be photographed with him, to which he agreed.

There were quite a few signs like this one.

Flag of Honor listing the name of all who perished on 9/11.

"Islam Kills"

There was also a group of Indian guys who walked around with posters showing how many people were killed and wounded by radical Islam in India, Chechnya, Israel, Russia, Egypt and Nigeria, with many people taking pictures of them. Then they all gathered together and were interviewed on camera.

On my way back, I took a few pictures of the rebuilding Ground Zero:

This is no place for a mosque. Really.
