A letter from a friend deployed to Iraq: On the progress, the surge and the Democrats

The so-called "experts" who know only what they are being fed by the Democrats and CNN are off the mark, again. They want to discredit GEN "P" before he reveals his report.

Let me say this clearly, as someone who is here and has been before the surge, THE SURGE IS WORKING!

I have seen what Baghdad was like before and, as I prepare to leave the country, I have seen what it's like after it has reached full capacity. Before the surge, people didn't go into the streets, markets were scarce, children didn't play outside, the residents were scared to cross sectarian boundaries. Now, Sunnis and Shiites are working together to rid themselves of the insurgents and the militias who have plagued their communities. I know for a FACT that the Sunni council chairman of our local community rode in the same car as his Shiite counterpart into a Shiite controlled area to meet sheiks of both Sunni and Shiite families to broker their own peace and commit to ending the violence on this side of Baghdad.

Before the surge, this was IMPOSSIBLE. No one wants to tell you people this because it's more important to bash the Bush administration that to reveal the truth.

Pelosi and Reid can kiss my ass. They have NO CLUE what is going on here. Nor do they care. It's more important to push the Democrat agenda than to show the progress that we are making.
