Bank boss in £16.7 million 'sex abuse' case

A bank manager launched a record £16.7million compensation claim yesterday, alleging she was the victim of sex and race abuse.

Mona Awad claims she was accused of sleeping with a client and being prepared to have sex in order to get promoted at HBOS.

The 29-year-old Egyptian Muslim told an employment tribunal her religion was ridiculed and one manager asked her if she "carried bombs on to trains". When she finally complained about the behaviour of two directors, H BOS investigated.

A number of the complaints were upheld and the two men, who cannot be named, left the company.

Ms Awad is suing HBOS because she claims the bank had offered her "no protection" against the alleged abuse.
