U.S. Senators during their Homeland Security Committee hearings heard testimony by the country's upper-echelon law enforcement and anti-terrorism officials -- including FBI director Robert Mueller, National Counterterrorism Center director Michael Leiter, Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair, and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano -- that none of them were consulted by the White House or the Department of Justice about the decision to process the Christmas Day "Underwear Bomber" in the civilian criminal justice system.
Obama on the same man: "This incident, like several that have preceded it, demonstrates that an alert and courageous citizenry are far more resilient than an isolated extremist."
Eli Lake reports that Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair criticized the decision by FBI agents last month to question the Christmas Day airline bombing suspect as a criminal and not interrogate him as a terrorist. In testimony before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Blair revealed a previously undisclosed disagreement among the Obama administration's top officials over the handling of the Nigerian who is accused of attempting to blow up Northwest Airlines Flight 253 on Christmas day.
Should I really go on......?
