Like many others, Russell Simmons was outraged after the home improvement chain pulled its ads from the TLC show “All-American Muslim” because horrible bigots from the Florida Family Association said the reality show, which follows Detroit-based Americans who are also Muslim, attempts to “manipulate Americans into ignoring the threat of jihad” and undercuts our nation’s “traditional values.”Knowing that young master Belonsky is white himself (and of Polish descent, to be sure), gee, he must really hate his skin color. Or, put another way, has it ever occurred to him that in or out of the FFA, there's plenty of blacks who are devoted Christians too? And Hispanics and Asians? And that they too may consider the show's approach objectionable? Since when didn't they count? This is basically a classic smear tactics of the left, selectively or otherwise, to imply that only whites are bad, and nobody else.
In other words, these right wing extremists believe, like so many of their ideological peers, that the United States should be a Christian, primarily white, nation. Lowe’s response suggests to many the company feels the same way.
Thousands of Americans, including Simmons, fellow celebrity Mia Farrow and a number of lawmaker immediately denounced Lowe’s decision. Democratic Congressman John Conyers of Michigan demanded the company apologize, while Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, blasted Lowe’s for siding with “a fringe hate group and not the creed of the 1st Amendment” and California State Senator Ted Lieu has called for a boycott.Well there's one credit card system we sure don't need to waste our hard earned greenbacks on. But what's really stupid on Belonsky's part is that he doesn't comprehend that Lowe's is the one paying for the ad space, not the other way around. That's how it usually goes, but even if it were the other way around, Lowe's has every right to refuse the dough and every right to choose whether they want to advertise there or not. And they're doing the right not to advertise on that particular show, which is why they're worth buying from.
Simmons says he would rather not start a boycott against Lowe’s, and has instead started a petition asking retailers like Wal-Mart, Clinique and K-Mart to prove they won’t stand for Islamophobic cowardice by keeping their own commercials running on air.
Over 20,000 people have since signed the petition to show that right wing hate has no place in America, land of the free market. It is a commercial crusade in every way, and Simmons is leading the fight.
The Hollywood reporter confirmed last night that Simmons, a music and fashion mogul worth an estimated $340 million, is trying trying to snatch up the rest of the available “All-American Muslim” ads to promote the RushCard, a pre-paid credit card he created with Visa.
Simmons, however, appears to be having some trouble.Wonder if he really is finding the success he's hoping for? Possibly not, and no matter how much Belonsky might pretend otherwise, even he must realize that. Too bad he doesn't realize that his description of Sunshine State residents is vulgar. He keeps up his hatemongering against family groups even in the next item, where he also brings his hate of anyone who dares to criticize the oh-so precious homosexual lifestyle into the mix:
Though he tweeted yesterday that he had “purchased remaining spots for #allamericanmuslim for next week,” and “the show is now sold out,” he later had to backtrack a bit. Apparently long term advertisers agree with his position: there’s no reason to pull their ads from the show, even if some backward Floridians are upset.
“I’m trying to buy ads during #AllAmericanMuslim airing this Sunday, but now they are saying they are sold out. I will keep trying…” said Simmons.
Here’s what the battle between America Future and America Past looks like: an Anonymous-related group has gone after the archaic, hateful Florida Family Association for boycotting “All-American Muslim.”Gee, what a peculiar thing to say. We don't know if what's said about bank accounts is true, but let us be perfectly clear here. What whomever the hackers did was a grave offense. And if Belonsky is comparing the FFA to the KKK, that too is sick. (By the way, isn't that interesting that he/they technically admit there are leftists who could be part of the FFA?)
Home improvement giant Lowe’s received the most heat for joining what Anonymous calls FFA’s “racist stupor,” but Cyber War News now reports hackers under the Anonymous C/antisec rubric want the right wing group to “answer” for its actions.
“Florida Family Association feels the need to put hate at the forefront of what it stands for,” the group said in a statement posted on the ihazcAnNONz twitter account alongside some snagged data. “Your hatred, bigotry and fear mongering towards Gays, Lesbians and most recently Muslim Americans has not gone unnoticed!”
“Anonymous will not stand for hate and divisive vitriol to be spread across our country and whenever we can…we will stop it.”
From the sounds — and looks — of it, the hackers’ time on FFA’s website yielded a treasure trove of information about the group’s members and bank accounts. Anonymous C vows not to misuse this information, though, because they realize many of FFA’s members may be part of the 99%. But anyone associated with a violent group like the KKK will be exposed.
Steve Ensley’s heads up a Christian web security firm called American Family Online and proudly fights alongside organizations like the FFA.And dear oh dear, is Belonsky inciting against the FFA in all of this. Let us be clear, if Anonymous made threats against them, that is illegal and abominable. Since when did the FFA and AFA ever stoop to anything like that? What a most despicable man indeed. As the above suggests, Belonsky clearly has it in for Christians and anyone who dares object to homosexual culture...except if they're Muslim, of course. How odd that even the hackers themselves didn't seem to take into thought that quite a few Muslims are homophobic themselves, especially towards lesbians if you know where to look. Belonsky then concludes by saying:
In the late 1990s, Ensley took on CyberPatrol after the British filtering company deemed the American Family Association’s website “intolerant” for hideously homophobic content. Ensley, who lives in Florida, said at the time AFA was simply practicing their free speech.
His current website makes clear how Ensley merges his tech-savvy career and faith-driven activism: “As a Christian husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Ensley knows the critical need for personal holiness and has dedicated his company and his life to helping to protect families and individuals from the dark side of the Internet.”
One can only assume, based on his ideological affiliations, what the “dark side of the Internet” looks like — some of your best friends are probably over there.
The FFA is of course playing the victim card in all of this. RawStory reports the group posted a message that read, “Because of our real concern for the terrorism that is a way of life for some folks, we ourselves have become victims.”
So one side we have Christian fundamentalist group that prefers an 18th Century America in which gays don’t exist, Muslims live in a faraway land and anyone who’s not like them lives a caste below. And on the other side we have 21st Century hacktivist group that envisions a nation, and world, in which all people are accepted and bigotry is disdained. And they’re battling it out online. The Culture Wars are virtual, and the gloves are coming off.How about an America where leftists as disgusting as Belonsky are rightly viewed as the hatemongers they really are? How about one where it actually is permitted to make a point about how Muslims are the real homophobes? And just look at how he actually seems to be lionizing the hacktivists, as though they're real heroes. Simply distasteful how he implies that a group that commits an illegal hacking and makes threats against family groups are the "goodies" in this whole affair. Thus, he is but a leading example of a hate-spewing leftist. He might want to consider that at least 64 other companies have followed Lowe's and withdrawn their advertisements too, and have every right to do so.
