In a surprising turn of events, Jennifer Grout, a 23-year-old white woman who doesn't speak much Arabic has made the finals of the Middle Eastern version of the popular reality show.
Grout stunned judges when she sang "Baeed Annak" ("Away From You") in Arabic, accompanying herself on a lute-like instrument called an oud — all this despite not understanding the phrase "What's your name?"
