Donald Trump: "I Think Islam Hates Us"

From the Blaze:
Republican front-runner Donald Trump said Wednesday that he believes Islam “hates us” — referring to the United States — and called on the U.S. to “expand” it’s use of enhanced interrogation techniques against terrorist groups.
“I think Islam hates us,” Trump told CNN’s Anderson Cooper during a sit-down interview. “There’s something there that — there’s a tremendous hatred there. There’s a tremendous hatred. We have to get to the bottom of it. There’s an unbelievable hatred of us.”
The brash billionaire was responding to a question from Cooper, who asked Trump if he believes that “Islam is at war with the West.”
When pressed, Trump deferred but did say that it’s “very hard to separate” peaceful Muslims from Islam’s radical adherents.
“It’s radical, but it’s very hard to define; it’s very hard to separate because you don’t know who’s who,” Trump said.
Trump went on to explain that he believes the U.S. should escalate their usage of enhanced interrogation techniques, such as waterboarding, against the Islamic State and other terrorist organizations.
“We have to the play the game at a much tougher level than we’re playing it. We have to expand those laws,” he said. “Everyone believes in the Geneva Convention until they start losing and then they say let’s take out the bomb.”
It sounds to me like Trump is calling for a national conversation - on the subject of Islam - in which we do not allow ourselves to be walled in by the usually politically correct platitudes ...
"Islam is a Religion of Peace ..."
"We are not at war with Islam ..."
"Moderate Muslims ..."
etc.

All those things can be true on an individual Muslim-by-Muslim basis, and still not be true on a macro-scale.

War and Ideology are conducted on a Macro-scale, no matter what we may wish to be true.

Islam is defined by Muslims, not by the West.

If Muslims want to redefine Islam, it is up to them, not to us.

We must simply go by the facts on the ground.

The facts on the ground are the reality of what happens when Islam is in charge.

There is no Islamic nation in the world where Individual rights are respected, where the rights of women are respected, or violence is not seen by a large number of people to be the solution to a perceived "insult" towards the Islamic religion.

This is an untenable situation. There is no compromise with that reality.

We can not trade away part of our freedom for part of their dislike of our way of life. That would get us nowhere.

So yes, we need to discuss this. We need to "get to the bottom of it", as Trump says.
