EPA claims all water-Toilets, Showers, and now your friendly local DITCHES
Daily Signal:
“Remember, being jurisdictional doesn’t mean a thing unless you want to pollute or destroy a jurisdictional water,” she (EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy ) added.
Actually, being jurisdictional means a lot and is the very foundation of the statute. Jurisdictional means those waters would be regulated under the Clean Water Act. There’s a reason why everyone from farmers to local governments are concerned about what waters are covered, and it isn’t because they want to pollute or destroy waters. They want to engage in critical activities which, if the proposed rule is finalized, could require them to get costly permits.
Under the proposed rule, the EPA and Corps would deem nearly any type of water to be jurisdictional. For example, the new proposed rule would regulate all ditches, except in narrow circumstances. The rule would apply to tributaries that have ephemeral flow and depressions in land that contain water only when it rains. Further, the rule is so vague that property owners probably should assume a water body is covered under the law, unless it falls under one of the limited exceptions in the rule.
This overreach means that property owners will be required to secure far more permits than ever before. McCarthy makes it sound as if this isn’t a big deal because, after all, according to her, these individuals and businesses just want to pollute.
Right now, I have toilets I have to flush twice - EPA
Right now, I have wood stoves (one of which I am CERTAIN) the EPA hates (and cost me ~$660 this freezing year to heat 2600 square feet in EASTERN MAINE)
Since I live on a lake and have a garden, will I need a PERMIT NOW because I am a polluter?
Congress, I am someone who cares more for the environment than someone looking at gaseous diffusion equations, and brownian motion figures. I am OUTSIDE in it MOST of the year intimately connected to the earth, MY WATER I swim in and pull from my well beneath that lake, and I do NOT recognize the SELF ARROGATED RIGHT the EPA claims to assign fees to garden, heat or GATHER that which occurs naturally HERE, lakeside, EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Congress, either reign these arrogant self appointed, DISTANT and DISCONNECTED DICTATING fools in by legislation, or REPLACE the EPA with another legislatively controlled entity whic can do what the EPA is SHOULD do, PUNISH POLLUTERS when POLLUTION OCCURS.
Schultz plant food washing into a lake with about 50 homes on it is NOT pollution.
This nation is not split along lines of race, or income inequality (alone). Our most significant divide is urban-rural. Take a look at a red-blue map by county.
LEAVE US ALONE TO CONDUCT OUR DAY TO DAY LIVES or our CONSENT WILL BE WITHDRAWN.
End THIS EPA and legislate a realistic, controlled, entity. The EPA making up its own rules, ‘legislating for itself’ in an expanding regulation empire is going to become a campaign issue.
