GI Joe #1 from 1982: something you may not see today

Here's two page scans I found from the premiere issue of GI Joe back at the time Marvel Comics first published it in 1982, from a backup story in the book:
Scarlett and Snake Eyes are under siege by a gang of jihadists led by a Colonel Sharif (a battle cry the enemy soldiers let out with in the second panel before the heroes gun them away) who may or may not be allies of Cobra, and as heard on a radio in the first panel, the heroes are called "infidels". Very bold and gutsy when Larry Hama did it back then. And unfortunately, thanks to all the political correctness that's overtaken pop culture, it's not something you're bound to see in a mainstream company's comics today.

- A Clue To Scott Snyder's Political Positions
A couple days ago, this comics writer at DC revealed what Marvel series he's reading: Kid saw me reading @GWillowWilson ms. Marvel. on the ferry to Bridgeport and told me how much she loved the series pic.twitter.com/jS6lveBxi8 — Scott Snyder (@Ssnyder1835)...

- Av Club Fails To Comprehend The Issues At Hand With New Ms. Marvel
The AV Club's been paying lip service to "All-New Marvel Now", which they say is a spotlight for "stylistic diversity" and when they get to the part about the Muslim Ms. Marvel, they say: Wilson and Alphona’s relaunch of Ms. Marvel starring a Muslim...

- Dc Comics Becomes Dhimmi Comics
Coming back from a vacation I was on, I've made quite a discovery indeed: DC is going to allow for a team-up between its superheroes and those of the Kuwaiti-based Teshkeel that go by the Islamic religion. The UK Guardian published the following article:...

- Marvel Comics Does Not Support The Troops
It looks like Marvel has once again sunk into the sick obsession they've developed with offending America. In one of their latest crossover connected comics, Silent War #6, they depict US troops as suicide bombers: Now, in the story, a select group...

- Even Comic Books Have Them
Elder of Zion wrote earlier about the AP's puff piece on a bigoted comic being published in Egypt. In case it hasn't been discussed here yet, there are other examples of comic books right within the US that have anti-Americanism, anti-Israelism,...
