Yesterday I was having a casual conversation with a man who is about mid-thirty, intelligent. We were talking about Israel and what's going on over there right now, and we didn't have long to talk, so I got his email address and sent him a few articles last night, which he read.
When I saw him today, he said, "I never heard of this Kooreen." I didn't even know what he meant. Finally I realized he meant "Qur'an." He'd never heard of it, and he was surprised that it was written by one man.
Good grief! What are you doing out there people?! Am I the only one talking to people?! How come this guy had never heard of the Qur'an!?
I'm just riffing now. Please don't take it personally.
When I was done filling in some details for this guy, he was even more surprised. You can imagine. He knew NOTHING about it!
A little while later, someone brought up Israel, and he was already sharing what I'd just told him. One more American who has a bit more of a clue about what is really causing the conflict. When I said goodbye to him, he asked me to send him more articles, which I just did.
This issue (Israel's retaliation) has opened up a lot of opportunities to educate people. I hope we're all using the opportunities the best we can!
