By now most of us who like to be INFORMED know:
- Boehner and the R’s invited Bibi to address a joint session of Congress on Iranian nuclear ambitions
- Boehner and the R’s didn’t bother to inform Obama
- Bibi accepted
- Obama has warned any action by Congress to automagically pass a bill which would REIMPOSE sanctions by July if negotiations fail or need extension (HAH) would destroy those negotiations and he would VETO the legislation (there’s good chance of override on this one)
- Courtesy of a US leak, the Mossad has apparently told some congressmen (& ladies) the same thing… a bill now would tank the negotiations, and the Jpost says this this is Obama’s revenge
I don’t know if Mossad believes these negotiations are worth warm spit, indeed like the American-Japanese negotiations which went on for MORE than 6 months in 1941 (over sanctions) they may have no chance of succeeding.
In fact, I can’t think of ANY reason why Iran would give up the development of (at the least) a deterrent weapon which is the only thing which can guarantee them safety from ‘arrogant powers and Zionist aggressors’, and at worst, the tool which will allow them to carry out the dream and verbalized threat of their every leader, to KILL ALL THE JEWS IN ISRAEL.
Think of what the mullahs have observed. Libya gave up it’s nuclear weapons program after we invaded Iraq, and it’s leaders are dead and nation is in chaos. Iraq was FORCED to give it up and it’s leaders are dead and the nation is in chaos.
Therefore I have NO REASON to think, strictly as a practical matter, the conservative leaders of Iran would even CONSIDER really giving up their program, especially with a Barack Obama as a president here.
Therefore the negotiations are IRRELEVANT to the goal we want.
If congress reimposes sanction automatically in July (preventing another extension in the USELESS talks) and that tanks the negotiations, and sanctions are thus reimposed NOW ….
GOOD.
The Iranians will be exposed as not being serious and being SO ARROGANT they treat the results in the west with casual insouciance, flavored with the usual rhetoric sounding like Ron Burgundy imitating Baghdad Bob.
Those of us who are as cynical about human nature as were the founders know already that only a military force which will not be used MIGHT be enough to end the nuclear weapons program in Iran. Nothing else has a prayer, therefore if we are going to do nothing, Iran must be permanently an international North Korea, and it becomes a strategic goal to ENSURE oil prices remain headed to $20/barrel (Hey Al Saud, you paying attention?)
Whether or not Israel attempts this in our stead is THEIR business (but know that we will be blamed no matter what, and therefore might as well support them to the hilt), but all should be sanguine about the FACT, that these negotiations are merely convenient tool for Iran to gain the time and space to develop weapons, secure storage for them and their manufacture, and decide on delivery methods.
And that’s #HOWITIS
Nevermind what our goals might be, just TECHNIQUE In a previous professional life I negotiated with BOTH administrative units, and unions. Especially given the Iranians balking at the west’s ‘leak’ that all U-235 was to leave Iran for Russia, this...
You can call this trying to protect negotiations all you want, but it demonstrates how far this naive, or dangerous fool has been negotiated into playing the appeaser of racist freaks. By any measure it is THEIR interests he protects for whatever reason...
