A few years ago, at the swimming pool, I said to another lounge lizard, a retired public school teacher: "Wearing a hijab is like wearing a swastika."
Other lounge lizard (horrified): "Oh, don't say that! It's so hateful!"
AOW (suppressing a smile): "I'm not the one who said that. A Muslim said that."
Other lounge lizard (relieved): "Oh, well. That's different."
