My Thoughts On Russia, Georgia, and Poland

These thoughts are offered in the spirit of ignorance, and almost as a long series of propositions which require questioning and correction from readers.

I have read article after article about Russia and Georgia, and I find them to be lacking. Frankly, even Bolton's article seemed to lack a real nuance.

So, here are my thoughts. Please, tell me where I'm wrong, and/or confused.

The currenct crisis with regard to Russia is one of those situations that I do not feel prepared to write about, but if you ask me, the really strange thing here is Poland.

The Georgia thing has been brewing for awhile, and I believe it's over the oil pipeline. And, if I am not mistaken, it is over Russia's control of the flow of oil to Europe.

Russia wants to control the oil market forces.

My hunch is this is happening now because of Iran. Russia believes they are putting pressure on the market, so we (Israel/USA) will be reluctant to hit Iran.

But, as I said, the strange thing is Poland. What is strange is I think that in a twisted way, Russia actually has a point.

Would we allow Russia to put a "Missile Defense Shield" in Cuba?

See what I mean?

What's to say these missiles are only defensive?

And, by the way, think about this, the analysis we get from lefties on this subject is that it's ok for Russia to invade/seize neighbor territories if there are enough ethnic Russians there.

You know, that was EXACTLY Hitler's argument vis a vis Chechoslovakia and Poland. And Chamberlain and company bought it, just like the lefties are doing today.

I'm currently reading the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. The parallels are eery.

Here's something to worry about. Russia is flush with oil money and they are in a far better position than we are in terms of being able to build a military, especially if they are willing to work with the ME, and I believe they are.

We're living in interesting times.

- Here We Go ...so I Guess We'll Have To Consider Moving Short Range, No Warning Attack Missiles To Target Their Launch Bases
How much more stupid can the Russians be over losing their ability to use NUCLEAR BLACKMAIL as a negotiating tool against their NEIGHBORS? Russia threatens to target US missile shield sites: reports Russia could point missiles at strategic...

- Russia, Georgia, 1938
This Russia/Georgia thing is directly related to Iran, in my opinion. The UNSC is putting pressure on Iran, led by the U.S. and the Europeans. Russia drags their feet, and more often, outright opposes, such pressure. The Telegraph and other UK papers...

- Why Georgia? Why Now?
I believe Russia planned, for a long time, to invade Georgia. But they decided to do it now because they believe that pipeline is important to Europe, which it is. So, since Russia doesn't want Israel to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities, they figure...

- Russia Threatens To Use Nukes On Poland
Russia is getting frisky aren't they? And, of course, we can be rather sure they are emboldened by the fact that we are basically doing nothing in retaliation (as John Bolton has made abundatly clear). We will regret these days, if we don't make...

- Russia Ready To Use Nukes - To Protect Itself Or Its Allies - If Threatened
That's right, all you have to do is threaten Russia or any of her allies. And, of course, Russia's allies include countries like Iran and Syria: MOSCOW, January 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's top military commander said on Saturday that the...
