Obama 'high road campaign' takes a detour when things get tough

Barack Obama savaged his Republican rival John McCain Wednesday for running a dishonorable campaign that aides to the Democrat said smacked of "reckless" desperation.

In some of the most vehement attacks yet heaped on the Arizona senator by the Obama camp during this White House campaign, the Illinois senator said he honored McCain's public service but not the manner of his electioneering.

Coinciding with a new poll suggesting McCain has overhauled Obama among voters nationally, Obama's senior foreign policy adviser Susan (let's appoint Jimmah jews are south africans Carter, and Jim F*ck the jews Baker as middle east negotiators) Rice portrayed the Republican as a hot-head who could not be trusted to stay cool under fire.

McCain's "tendency is to shoot first and to ask questions later," she said on a conference call alongside former White House anti-terrorism adviser Richard Clarke, who called the Republican "trigger-happy" and "reckless."

McCain, according to Rice, "cheer-led (President George W.) Bush's decision to take our eye off the ball and start a war in Iraq that had nothing to do with 9/11."

Of course, that requires one to believe that only in Afghanistan can we find those who want to kill americans, and destroy our way of life. Or was that Afghanistan and Waziristan, or was that Afghanistan and Waziristan and Pakistan. And no doubt the invasion of Iraq is why we have Al Qaeda in the Maghreb, and attacks in India, and attacks all over southern Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. Yes, Iraq is why Somalia and the Sudan are the way they are. And the invasion of Iraq is undoubtedly why at this very moment Saudi funded mosques teach racism and America hate RIGHT HERE. All this is so obvious that it compels one to wonder if these people are that stupid, or if they are putting a conveniently phrased political argument before all else to win an election (where oh where have I heard such a thing before?)

"This is a record that belies anything approaching sound judgment," she said.

"I think we are in a war against Islamic extremism, and I think that war is worldwide" John McCain

Clarke added, "he has consistently been quick-draw McCain here on every issue. His first instinct is to rattle sabers and look for a military solution."
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
Georgia, at the start.....

Obama's campaign released the following statement on the situation:
"I strongly condemn the outbreak of violence in Georgia, and urge an immediate end to armed conflict. Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint, and to avoid an escalation to full scale war. Georgia's territorial integrity must be respected. All sides should enter into direct talks on behalf of stability in Georgia, and the United States, the United Nations Security Council, and the international community should fully support a peaceful resolution to this crisis."

Here's McCain's statement: "[T]he news reports indicate that Russian military forces crossed an internationally recognized border into the sovereign territory of Georgia. Russia should immediately and unconditionally cease its military operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgian territory. What is most critical now is to avoid further confrontation between Russian and Georgian military forces. The consequences of Euro-Atlantic stability and security are grave. The government of Georgia has called for a ceasefire and for a resumption of direct talks on South Ossetia with international mediators. The U.S. should immediately convene an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council to call on Russia to reverse course. The U.S. should immediately work with the EU and the OSCE to put diplomatic pressure on Russia to reverse this perilous course that it has chosen.

We should immediately call a meeting of the North Atlantic Council to asses Georgia's security and review measures NATO can take to contribute to stabilizing this very dangerous situation.
