Pim's Ghost Ponders Total War

Yes, Pim's pesky ghost has returned, this time pondering the seemingly abandoned (by the West, though called for frequently in the last week by muslim activists) concept of Total War. Our ancestors did not shy from this in practice, and muslims never have. I do not believe that they are aware that a spark still burns within Westerners for this form of warfare or self-preservation. Those shrill voices in the MSM are only to willing to convince them that this fire has been extenguished forever.

Being one of those unwilling to part with the Lord of the Rings parallel, though I'm well aware of Tolkien's personal distaste of allegory, I find his words inspiring at this time:

"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost,
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king."

A fire shall and is being woken as we watch the protests over cartoons as well as the apologists weighing in from every angle. It is now up to us to make our own way and bend this critical period in our history to our own wills. This is a necessity, to brush away the voices of those who will not listen to the truth. They are no longer relevant and are not worth our time. This is our time, and we must make the most of it. Hence my pondering of two ghosts of my own past, which I wrote about today on What Would Charles Martel Do?, the conclusion here:

"In the glare of the media spotlight and the reality of instant video coverage, as well as our neverending and defeatist self-analysis, are we willing as a civilization to bring the warriors of the Pan-Islamist host deservedly to their knees? This will become our only option, especially in light of recent events. Even Ataturk's secular Turkey has made moves within the last week to move after all of these years back towards theocracy. HAMAS has had its success and is calling for Total War on the West, as is Iran. We have responded in kind to our enemies in the past. The question is, can we now? And will we? It will soon become apparent that this is our only option."

Indeed, after reading many of the speeches at www.memri.org as well as seeing the signs sported at various protests I am suggesting that we learn from our own past military successes as well as other examples and open up true debate about the nature of warfare as it stands today.

Human Events: Barbecue The Taliban by Ted Nugent Posted 11/17/2009 ET It all boils down to this simple question: Do you want to win the war or not? Barry O, Sen. Kerry and others are frittering the days away while the man that knows -- General McChrystal...

- Putting Out A Fleece
Quite frequently I will put out a fleece (Judges 6:37-40) wherein I will ask God either for specific guidance on an issue then open the Bible to a random page for an answer. Much more often I will just open it randomly without a specific question to see...
