During today’s press briefing, White House press secretary Josh Earnest was asked by a reporter what does “victory” against ISIS look like?
Earnest quipped: “I didn’t bring my Webster’s dictionary with me up here.”
After the reporters groaned, Earnest said “that’s a pretty illustrative phrase to describe the situation we envision.”
Essentially, Earnest never answered the question. Over two weeks ago, Josh Earnest couldn’t answer a simple question such as whether or not the U.S. is at war with ISIS.
The press secretary essentially went into his talking points about arming the Kurds, the Iraqis, and the Syrian rebels; there being no American combat troops; and building an international coalition to fight ISIS.
At a time when Americans feel unsafe because of this administration’s foreign policy, they deserve more than spin and and lame jokes. How can the White House have a strategy for “degrading” and “destroying” the Islamic State, when it can’t even define what “victory” looks like?
