So today, during the first Red Sox game after a horrific week, in a gesture of support sympathy and comfort Neil Diamond flew from California to Boston unannounced and out of his own pocket, walked up to the box office and asked if he could perform it for the fans.

Magic.

Ain't that America?

And ain't that a bit of what it means to be American?
