The only explanation which can make any kind of sense is that the Palestinians and those who advise them to go the UN unilaterally to declare a state have concluded they can scare Barack Obama into caving in - to not vetoing.
Otherwise they will provoke a cascade of unintended consequences, one of which may be to create as a result of a chain of events, an enraged american public, which will create a universe as different from today as 1942 was from 1941, and 2001 was from 2000.
If the US DOES do as advertised, and veto, and Abbas gives up on two states, what will the future of Palestine be since there will ONLY be Israel.
Will KSA embargo, and get OPEC to go along? Figure out the American people’s response.
Will Turkey and Egypt break off relations and send their navies to Gaza with a ‘relief’ flotilla? Figure out the American people’s response after Israel’s first light attempt to halt such a flotilla at sea would be after Israel responds FOR TRUE.
Will there be a 3rd Intifada which tries to breach the protective wall Israel has built?
Will Iran make open alliance with ‘Palestine’ and recognize a state after an overwhelming General Assembly vote, and then send troops to the West Bank thru Jordan? Figure out how that one plays out.
The only way the Palestinian move to unilaterally declare a state (on 1967, which is to say 1949 Armistice borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital)is if they have made a judgement that the USA is going to cave in, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.
Now I just cannot imagine how they can have come to such a conclusion based on the way our president has behaved since 2009, can you?
Cataclysmic civilizational wars begin when one said completely misjudges the other.
Welcome to the USA in 2011.
I cannot be sure of what Obama will really do, but I know if he caves in it will instantly end his presidency, and except for the outright jew haters (who hate him for his color) this entire nation will be counting
