Why is a scientist, whose life should be dictated by the facts, using a political red herring argument to duck recommending tough policies to fulfill his PRIME MISSION, …which is-
The safety of the American people via all medical means
No one, *****NO ONE*****, expects that in a moment’s notice we can seal the USA off, OR that this admin has the will to do such a thing, or believes is it possible or would work (certainly with viruses).
But COMMON SENSE and SCIENCE should compel a SCIENTIST to AT LEAST the following in order of priority.
Why is a scientist, whose life should be dictated by the facts, using a political red herring argument to duck recommending tough policies to fulfill his PRIME MISSION, …which is-
The safety of the American people via all medical means
No one, *****NO ONE*****, expects that in a moment’s notice we can seal the USA off, OR that this admin has the will to do such a thing, or believes is it possible or would work (certainly with viruses).
But COMMON SENSE and SCIENCE should compel a SCIENTIST to AT LEAST the following in order of priority.
- Deployment of DETERMINATIVE US assets to West Africa to END the outbreak AND blocking of all West African flights, and passengers on connected flights pending PRECISELY what we did with detected sick people on Ellis Island.
- Deploying EFFECTIVE means of detection and screening at BOTH ENDS of the travel chain, via US personnel. If the foreign nation is unwilling, FLIGHTS BLOCKED.
- Since the virus is already here (further sinking the President’s already capsized credibility), ensuring adequate, instantly DEPLOYABLE means of isolation and decontamination is ESSENTIAL, and must be seen to be in action, and effective by the public - FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. Media is already considering the opposite
- Make sure the public is informed of the FACTS of transmission INCLUDING THE UGLY ONES.
- SPEND MONEY and ensure the best people are involved from NIH to universities to BIG (and small innovative) PHARMA is engaged in BOTH a therapeutic treatment set, and a vaccine.
- Keep the public FULLY informed in an APOLITICAL MANNER. No admin appointed personnel should be involved IN ANY WAY in this information chain linking news, science and the public, this is way above that pay grade
