Too bad this isn't contagious
The New York City Police Department has secretly labeled NYC mosques as terrorism enterprises, which, among other things, allows the NYPD to use informants to record sermons and spy on imams.
As reported by NewsMax, designating an entire mosque as a terrorism enterprise means that anyone who attends prayer services at that mosque is a potential subject of an investigation and fair game for surveillance.
Since the 9/11 attacks, the NYPD has opened at least a dozen “terrorism enterprise investigations” into mosques, according to interviews and confidential police documents. The TEI, as it is known, is a police tool intended to help investigate terrorist cells and similar organizations.
The strategy has allowed the NYPD to send undercover officers into mosques, attempt to plant informants in mosque leadership positions, and treat anyone who attends prayer services as a potential suspect.
Martin Stolar, a Muslim lawyer opposed to the practice, said: “Every Muslim is a potential terrorist? It is completely unacceptable. It really tarnishes all of us and tarnishes our system of values.”
Memo to Mr. Stolar: No, Mr. Stolar, what “tarnishes” the Muslim community is its refusal to condemn acts of terror. As for tarnishing your “system of values,” one would think that any system of values would include speaking out against the murder of innocent women and children; against the destruction of churches in Egypt and against the slaughter of Nigerian Christians at the hands of Boko Haram.
As is the case with Islam in general, you are far more concerned with “being offended” than you are with “offending” – truly offending – through unspeakable acts of brutality carried out in the name of Allah. If that is not the case, where are the voices of “moderate” Muslims in condemnation?
Perhaps, Mr. Stolar, if moderate Muslims the world over were to condemn acts of terror and distance themselves from the extremists who have highjacked your “peaceful religion,” the NYPD and others would be less inclined to spy on you.
P.S. As to “every Muslim” being a “potential terrorist,” correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t every Christian a “potential infidel”?
Incidentally, in several cases, the NYPD has made terrorism designations without specific evidence of criminal wrongdoing. Liberals and “deeply-offended” Muslims to begin their respective meltdowns in 3…2…1…
