Turkish State Minister Mehmet Aydin, who pays a formal visit to Oman, informed Omani officials about the Alliance of Civilizations, a UN-led project initiated by Turkey and Spain to promote dialogue and cooperation between different cultures of the East and the West.
Delivering a speech at a conference on the project, Aydin said a report prepared by the high level group of the "Alliance of Civilizations" showed that the major problem between the civilizations was not religious or cultural but economic and cultural.
"Second part of the report is about youth, education, media and immigration. It makes a series of advises for the solution," he said.
Aydin said Muslims should make significant progress regarding several issues such as education, youth, women, immigration, integration and media.
"The Alliance of Civilizations has drawn remarkable support from the international community since 2005. More than 80 countries and 10 international organizations provide support. This international support pay an important part in making the alliance stronger, healthier and more open for progress," he said.
