What's Right and Wrong With Kansas
Everyone reading this has probably heard about the National Service Act that has just been passed, and which Obama will undoubtedly sign. In the U.S. Senate, only fourteen senators (all Republicans) voted against this Obamanation and for the Constitution. Two of those fourteen were both senators from Kansas, Roberts and Brownback.
Unfortunately, there is trouble in paradise. As most readers are also aware, New Orleans has been designated the National Sacrifice Sump (NSS). This spring break was no exception as college students descended upon the Big Easy in order to "help." Included in this year's contingent were some undergrads from the University of Kansas:
Iliff was among seven members of KU’s Engineers Without Borders chapter who worked with the Historic Green organization to help rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward in a way to preserve its history while creating a sustainable future.
“In reality, I was paying for the experience of doing something greater than yourself,” Iliff said. “It’s not just about sustainability, and it’s not just about being green. It’s also about virtue.”
Virtue is the action one takes in order to acquire values. The definition for the same term according to altruists makes virtue an action that - allegedly - does not benefit the actor. This means any action that is not in the interest of the actor is moral. One obvious problem with this definitional switch is that it puts to focus exclusively on intentions not results. It also demands that individuals turn themselves into mindless servants of whoever claims to be the recipient of human sacrifice.
As Thomas Jefferson wrote to James Monroe on 20 May 1782:
...It were contrary to feeling and indeed ridiculous to suppose a man had less right to himself than one of his neighbors or all of them put together. This would be slavery and not that liberty which the bill of rights has made inviolable and for the preservation of which our goverment has been changed. Nothing could so completely divest us of that liberty as the establishment of the opinion that the state has a PERPETUAL right to the services of all it's members. This to men of certain ways of thinking would be to annihilate the blessing of existence; to contradict the giver of life who gave it for happiness and not for wretchedness, and certainly to such it were better that they had never been born.
These gullible, young students are being turned into beings who will "annihilate the blessing of existence." They have been trained to believe that sacrifice of their interests is the good. It won't be long before the Obama Green Shirt Youth Corps will show up to demand payment.
