Why does US leadership matter? Qatar extends invitation to Hamas PM
If we are irrelevant, weak states which wish to survive will do what they have to and choose any other strong horse.
SORRY Dr. PAUL, but that’s how it is. In this example perhaps YOU and your Chamberlain reasoning minions can shrug off the result, but as these amoral (to us) murderers gain sway, and one day Europe is short of oil because THEY won’t comply with the demands of oil bearing muslim brotherhood influenced and controlled govts, and YOUR POLICY then results in all states competing for oil in the Americas, and gas is suddenly $20/gallon……
GAZA CITY — Qatar, a leading ally of the United States, has invited Hamas’ political leader in the Gaza Strip for a visit.
Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh could visit in early 2012 amid the formation of a strategic alliance between Doha and the Hamas regime.
“The Qatar visit would be part of a tour of Arab states in the Gulf region,” an official said.
On Dec. 18, Haniyeh said he received an invitation to visit Doha during a telephone conversation with Qatar’s Emir Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani. The prime minister said Qatar, regarded as the richest country in the world, marked a major supporter of the Palestinians.
Haniyeh said the emir also promised to visit the Gaza Strip. The prime minister said Qatar has sought to expand support in an effort to develop the region.
Officials said Haniyeh would also visit Bahrain, another Gulf Cooperation Council state. They said Haniyeh was also invited by Tunisia and Turkey.
In 2011, Qatar enhanced its relationship with Hamas, designated a terrorist group by the U.S. State Department. Qatar has offered to host Hamas political leaders amid their departure from Syria.
Qatar also supports the Muslim Brotherhood, of which Hamas is a member, in several countries in the Middle East. Doha was said to be supporting the Brotherhood-aligned revolt in Syria as well as the new Islamist government in Libya following the overthrow of Moammar Gadhafi.
