No hunger
No thrills
No stands, except the ones that go back and forth
No excitement
No confronting ideas and practicalities
These are all the perceptions quoted to me about Mr Romney, who having come from an equity preservation management firm, is UNDOUBTEDLY the iconic image of the 1%
In response to a question from moderator John Harwood about his apparently shifting stance on the government bailouts of the auto industry in 2009, Romney declared, “I think people understand I’m a man of steadiness and constancy.’’
That statement — from a candidate who has repositioned himself on abortion, gay rights, climate change, immigration, gun control, and most recently, a referendum on labor rights in Ohio — went completely unchallenged.
Of course, after last night’s Perry audition of his reaction to the quick answers demanded by real life in the Oval Office (at 3 AM?) , the National Journal wonders if Romney is Fortune’s Favorite (a phrase Colleen McCollough revived to designate Sulla).
I cannot ever recall ANYTHING like Perry’s COMPLETE CHOKE in any presidential race back to 1956 (the first I actually remember).
Meanwhile Cain’s accusers pile up in a truth untruth choice which voters (I GUARANTEE YOU) will soon file under, ‘who needs to think about this crap while the world is crashing around us’. Of course, later we’ll wonder about why the left casts any conservative black man who pops his head up as a sexual, predatory, aggressive stereotype of what the KKK was formed to prevent by Nathan Bedford Forrest.
Who is left? The guy with the ideas and enemies. And Mr. 1% WALL STREET -Vanilla (not even French Vanilla).
The ONLY reccomendation republicans can make to distinguish ROmney from Kerry through the looking glass is that Romney did not marry his money. HE MADE IT (of course the left will say .. EUCHRED IT FROM THE BUS DRIVERS’ AND SEWER WORKERS’ PENSION FUNDS he now wants to prevent them from negotiating and striking for in the first place)
Newt will have to find a way to make himself palatable to the independents of the USA.
Romney is NOT Fortune’s Favorite, he is Fortune’s leftover.
Vastly preferable to Obama, but Romney will never be the man.
