Sis Vis Pacem, Para Bellum -- On the Border

See this post for background.

This afternoon I had a brief email correspondence with Hammerdown (H.D. in the post linked). And if I have any of this incorrect I hope he'll set it straight.

Much of this has to do with Los Zetas (a Mexican drug Cartel). They have made death threats against Pinal County Sherriff Paul Babeu and will begin indiscriminately killing any Americans they find in the desert there.

Here's a portion of H.D.'s email:

The report is true, I spoke to our Pima County Commander by phone personally.
Our conversation took place while his crew were still in the bush. So I did not press him on the details, I told him to get his crew home safe and then we could talk. Since that first report, Hummer has reported to me that his crew were able to successfully exfil last night, and are all home safe. As a result of yesterday's action, however, we can expect the feces to impact the oscillating ventilator in short order. . .

. . .Our Pima County Commander heard about the above and put some armed, uniformed Zetas in the dirt first. I don't expect that the Zetas will be too terribly happy about that. Hang onto your butts, ya'll, its about to start gettin' interesting. The Arizona Citizens Militia will conduct Operation Defiant Sentinel on the Arizona Border this Fall. The mission will last from late September through early November, and will involve all of the ACM's County Units, and Militia units from other states.

To what extent the emails Malkin has received are directly in relation to this is unclear. If Hiz'ballah is mixed up in it or using it as a diversion to bring their own assets in is even murkier (though they have been bringing them in). What is clear is that The American Border Patrol is woefully undermanned (and undersupported) for this. The Mexican border patrol probably couldn't care less, unless you're trying to get into their country. And the American government is responding fatally slowly, if at all.

So you have Gov. Jan Brewer making a rock against the pounding surf stand.

And a bunch of American citizens taking it on themselves to defend their land, their homes and neighbors when The Regular Federal Authorities have let them down.

Now whether you view that rightly or wrongly, I say Our Founding Fathers would be proud of these guys.

But please don't tell me that if you found a pack of drug smuggling vermin crossing through your yard, trying to get into your home, or your neighbor's home, and the authorities ignored your pleas, that you, too, wouldn't put them in the dirt first.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state. . ."

If & when H.D. updates me so will I update you.
