It's Iran which is pulling out all the stops for their own strategic purposes which may not be of this world.
One thing is true .. a strictly tactical purpose such as retreiving the three prisoners of war Israel has lost to purposeful activities of a somewhat controlled HAMAS and Hizballah, will fail. I doubt if the three men can be recovered in this way unless it is the intention of Israel to invest noth lands utterly and go on a house to house search (in which case it may be they would be in a photo shoot in some other arab city).
The entire purpose of all this should now be to get to the Bekaa, and utterly destroy the Katyushas (>12,000 of them, and from souther Lebanon Haifa is in range), and weapons and men, take out the Syrian infrastructure, and set targeted assassination squads for Fadlallah, Mugniyeah (assuming he's not on vaca in Teheran), and the rest, and re-obliterate the entire civil infrstructure in Lebanon, Gaza and if NECESSARY the West Bank.
There can be no doubt that these acts against Israel are warfare, and that the enemies of free societies have bet that their self-victimhood held before them as a shield will protect them from warfare by Israel.
But this all begs another, and for Americans, far more important question ..
