Okay, Bill Moyers is a former high official in the LBJ admin. He represents the rank and file leadership of the pre and post Vietnam democratic party. This is a main line position right? This is not some group of freaks of the left, correct?
Listening on XM during a long ride, to Hubert Humphrey dictate his memoirs, Mrs. Epa and I were treated to his description of meeting what was then his hero, Henry Wallace, former VP under FDR. HHH viewed this man as a leader of values for the people and the common man. A leader for better economic and political conditions for working people. HHH records that instead he was crushed by the realization that Wallace in fact someone who disliked the system (you know, the one invented by Jefferson, Madison, Hamilton, et al?) and was in fact left of being a socialist..and ended up opposing the Berlin Airlift, since Joe Stalin and his theories represented something closer to the the needs and rights of the working people than Mr. Harry Truman, the man who served in his army, the man who went broke selling men's clothes and rose to president.
So when you read this article, remember you are reading from what is the dead center of the leadership of the 60's democratic party and undoubtedly highly representative of it now.
The word Iraq doesn't even occur in this article.
The word terror doesn't even occur in this article.
