What is it Reid, Durbin, Schumer and Obama are trying to do?

Over the last several weeks, and months and years, we have seen all of the above named compare Republicans to extremists, arsonists, and kidnappers.

Repressive words from office holders reached a new peak with the UN-AMERICAN accusations towards the Koch brothers as being totally un-american because, aside from donating hundreds of millions of dollars to hospitals, they support libertarian causes. Of course they donate nowhere near as much as democratic supporters do their party.

This all would merely be an annoyance except for the cooperation of a media whose slavish acceptance of the underlying story line enhances the power of the real effort.

The media, such as even the Washington Post has, in the last week, published articles exclaiming the the dreaded Kochs owned the right to the most tar sands in Canada and would therefore help to pollute us to death with their XL pipeline so they can presumable count even more money in their basement lair. This of course, then explains the ‘truth’ about ‘drill, baby, drill’ and fossil fuel use. It’s to make the rich richer while they and their imps help to destroy the earth?

Of course this story was wrong FACTUALLY in several critical ways, but the reaction as has been the case when the facts contradict the story line, which is to say, the DIALECTIC (which MUST be true), the REACTION is almost always to insist what was reported is true because the spirit of the story must be true, and the story is that Republican ideas are NOT JUST bad for the nation and NOT JUST bad for the people. That Republicans, their supporters, are for the rich and do things which are suspect, wrong, and ‘evil’ so that all others are harmed save the rich.

In the end that is the entire story of the progressives of the democratic party today.

Recently these attempts to stigmatize Republicans and THEIR FINANCIAL SUPPORTERS has spread to IRS repressions (today we have a story of outright Obama support and pressure on callers from inside the IRS offices).

These attempts to silence and scare republicans have become so uniform that I wondered what the real purpose of this all is.

What if the designers of this uniform dialectic are after truly stigmatizing the opposition? Over the long term, the long run?

Might they suggest something like jailing global warming ‘deniers’? Would they invent a term like ‘deniers’ so as to stigmatize opposition?

What if they have conceptualized that the way to permanent power in a democracy (and all that results from that for friends and supporters) is not to have winning ideas, but to make the opposition wrong, suspect, and those most dangerous to their loss of power, EVIL?

There would be nothing illegal about that. It might be nauseating. It might be unethical. It might in the end destroy the nation. But by ensuring only the ‘correct’ people would stand up, stand out, contribute, speak out, in political forums, running for office, even at work, in the media, hospitals, in church or temple and among friends it would make certain that the ideals of the current democratic party are the ONLY acceptable ideas spoken of. It would drive underground an opposition which could never use any electronic means to coordinate. Could never organize financially. Could never oppose or raise serious nation altering questions without being seen as dangerous to the body politic.

We non D’s would all be finally ‘deranged’, and ‘paranoid’, with our dangerous gun ideas and our tri-cornered hats, but it would be worse ..
