Landing system back down at Lubbock airport

The instrument landing system is back down at Lubbock International. After a week of cancellations, more radio interference is reported, forcing the FAA to take the system down again around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Top FAA officials, City leaders and Congressman Neugebauer will host a 2 p.m. press briefing.
FAA spokesperson Lynn Lunsford says on Tuesday of last week pilots reported fluctuations in the system, prompting the agency to shut it down for a thorough assessment. He says it took technicians a while to rule out any ILS malfunctions. Then technicians zeroed in on signal interference as the source of the problem.
It took hours of scouring the area to find what they believed was the cause of interference, a parking lot light pole and a traffic data transmitter near the flight path. The feds and Congressman Neugebauer tell us signal interference today is persisting, forcing the system to be taken down.
